主講人簡(jiǎn)介：

Ta Yuan Chang博士是達(dá)特茅斯學(xué)院醫(yī)學(xué)院生物化學(xué)和細(xì)胞生物學(xué)系教授，2021年當(dāng)選美國(guó)國(guó)家科學(xué)院外籍院士，他的研究專(zhuān)注于中樞神經(jīng)系統(tǒng)和全身組織中膽固醇穩(wěn)態(tài)平衡的調(diào)控機(jī)制，通過(guò)揭示相關(guān)分子作用路徑，探索其在阿爾茨海默病等神經(jīng)退行性疾病中的潛在治療應(yīng)用。Catherine Chang博士是達(dá)特茅斯學(xué)院醫(yī)學(xué)院生物化學(xué)和細(xì)胞生物學(xué)系首席研究科學(xué)家。Drs. Chang實(shí)驗(yàn)室聚焦于膽固醇穩(wěn)態(tài)平衡的調(diào)控機(jī)制，旨在開(kāi)發(fā)治療阿爾茨海默病等疾病的創(chuàng)新療法。

Brief Introduction of Drs. Chang

Drs. Chang’s laboratory at Dartmouth has been working on cellular cholesterol metabolism in health and in diseases for many years. Our laboratory identified the gene that encodes the cholesterol storage enzyme acylcoenzyme A:cholesterol acyltransferase 1 (ACAT1). ACAT1 is an enzyme responsible for intracellular cholesterol esterification and storage. It is a membrane bound protein located at the endoplasmic reticulum, and plays important roles in health and in diseases. We are conducting structure-function analysis of ACAT1 in vitro, and taking mouse genetic approaches to determine the pathophysiological role of ACAT1 in Alzheimer’s disease, in atherosclerosis, and in diet-induced obesity. In addition, our lab has been involved in using mutant cell lines to dissect discrete steps in intracellular cholesterol trafficking.
